Once you've submitted a brief and made it clear in the brief that you're wanting to create a filter or filters for Facebook or Instagram, your brief will be matched with specialist Spark AR creators who will be in touch to scope out your plans. Your creative concept could be words, an image, a schematic or a video and most Spark AR Filter creators due to their experience, will be able to give advice as to what would work, what would appeal to fans and provide guidance on feasible creative options for you. 

Once an artist has seen your brief and been in touch with you through the platform to express their interest in bidding on your project, its highly likely they will offer to produce a mood board (or boards) outlining their design and how the effect will work.

It may take a couple of days for the creator to provide details and suggested design but once those have been discussed and approved, the creator will need to provide a final cost for the project. A Statement of Work will then need to be completed to define the responsibilities and work agreements between the creator and the customer and to prevent misinterpretations of terms and requirements. SOWs should be written in precise language and clarifies all deliverables, costs, timeline and due dates as well as the individual tasks that lead to the deliverable and who these tasks are assigned to.

Turnaround time can be dependent on many things: The complexity of the features of the filter, agreeing and signing off on the creative brief and subsequent Statement of Work (SOW), supply of required assets (form the customer) if required and the time it might take Facebook to approve the filter. 

Approvals for Spark AR camera effects / filters, can take up to ten business days for Instagram depending on the type of effect. Filters for Facebook tend to be quicker and take less than a week.  Approvals are not automatic for submitted camera effects and it is possible that Facebook will reject a filter or effect submitted for approval. They have guidelines as to their reasons for this and to provide insight as to best practices. Most Spark AR creators will have a lot of experience when it comes the guidelines and navigating them and they will take the lead on ensuring Facebook's creative, policy, and technical compliance terms are met to minimise the risk of the filter being rejected.

If desired and agreed, it's possible for creators to undertake or advise on how to publish, activate and promote the filter on Facebook or Instagram but this should be pre-agreed and outlined in the Statement of Work.
